Models Own Beetlejuice Indian Ocean Swatches

Well...before I even start, I'll give you my honest opinion - Indian Ocean is a gorgeous colour in the bottle, but FAR too thin. I will ONLY use this to layer over other polishes...it's just too watery alone (geddit?)

On it's own, I could barely even get a picture that showed it...

THREE coats

FOUR coats - it appears whitish with a greeny tinge

Here it is over a coat of Nails Inc Elizabeth Street (a pale cream):

With more coats than I cared to count

Layered over Nails Inc Chalk Farm

Layered - that's more like it!

I'm a little sad about this. On it's own, there is very little blue colour that I can see. I wanted this to be as beautiful as it is in the bottle by itself. There's no denying that it's a pretty topcoat, and it's a lovely layer on top of another polish, but I really hoped it would pay off alone. I feel like I've used half a bottle already!

So, definitely a layering polish! I'm still excited to try Copper Pot and Tropical Sun, as they are thicker polishes (I had a peep) so we'll see how they go.

What do you think? Will you purchase Indian Ocean?

New Models Own Beetlejuice!!

Look what arrived today!! These are just some teaser pictures - I have decided to be sensible and wait until tomorrow to start trying these. An extraordinary feat of willpower!

The boxset offer - all 6 for £20

Aqua Violet

Pinky Brown

Tropical Sun

Indian Ocean

Copper Pot

Aren't they beautiful?! I already have Aqua Violet and Golden Green from the previous Beetlejuice range, but I absolutely love these new colours. In the bottle, Indian Ocean is my favourite.

What would you like to see swatched first?

Max Factor Fantasy Fire, Revlon Stunning, Nails Inc Blenheim Terrace

Here are tonight's nails! I didn't feel like stamping or art but glitter always makes me feel better. This is kinda layered, and it's different in every light, so you get a few pictures! I wish I could show how it really looks. My husband suggested I take a video and "wangle it about" (nope, no clue either!) but that doesn't even work...

Awful picture, but see how different the colour looks?!

What I used:
  • Nails Inc Kensington Caviar basecoat
  • Nails Inc Blenheim Terrace (1 coat)
  • Max Factor Fantasy Fire (3 coats)
  • Revlon Stunning (1 coat)

I love the Revlon Stunning glitter, I bought it on a whim a few days ago because I don't have any chunky glitters. It's really quite holographic in real life, so many different colours show as it catches the light - in the bottle it looks like plain silver glitter so this was a nice surprise.

More Essie Matte About You - with Models Own Lemon Meringue and Pastel Pink

Here are tonight's nails! After the black I wanted something a bit brighter...

What I used:
  • Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle basecoat
  • Models Own Lemon Meringue (3 coats)
  • Models Own Pastel Pink (3 coats)
  • Essie Matte About You topcoat
I used a dotting tool to dot the opposite colour on after the matte topcoat, so although you can't really tell in the pictures, the dots are shiny.

Just a fun manicure really, I didn't feel like spending ages. What do you think?

Essie Matte About You, Barry M Black

Here are tonight's nails. I got bored of the plain blue from yesterday kinda fast, so after work today I went to buy Essie's Matte About You matte topcoat and did this:

Oops, bit dusty...sorry about that ;)

What I used:

  • Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle basecoat
  • Barry M black polish (3 coats)
  • Essie Matte About You topcoat
  • Nails Inc Albert Bridge topcoat (for shiny tips)

I freehanded the tips so they're not perfect, but I quite like the overall look. The matte topcoat is great, and I once said I don't like matte nails. I guess I was wrong! It's fun having nails that look like chalkboards!

You might also notice I trimmed my nails a little. They were getting a bit dry at the tips and I couldn't improve it, so I shortened them a little. I don't mind it, and they'll grow!
